2012 Kayaking Season, Updates, and New Boats

Hi everyone!! We here at SuperFun Eco Tours are so excited for the 2012 kayaking season!! We have some new tours and new boats that are sure to make our brand of hands on kayak tours as fun and interactive as ever. Our new tours include The Sustainable Shellfishing Tour and The Burley Oak Beer Tour. We also have the ever popular Wildlife Discovery Tour, Sunset Tour, Fullmoon Tour, and group tours, all of which can be completely customized for your groups' needs. We also offer lunch options through The Globe Restaurant in Berlin, MD that can be added to any larger group tour.

Along with all of our tours we will be offering the best rental experience around. No matter if you are a beginner or an expert paddler our guides will give you the tools to have an awesome rental experience on Assateauge Island. We provide every rental with paddling and safety instruction, a map and a sense of confidence that only our guides can give you.

With our new fleet of boats our customers will have the freedom and choice to paddle in comfort and style. Our new fleet will include: 14' Perception Prodigy Tandems, 13.5' Perception Prodigy singles, 12' Ocean Kayak Tetras, 10' Ocean Kayak Tetras, and a kayak/SUP hybrid, the Ocean Kayak Nalu. Whether you want to stand up and paddle or sit down and paddle, our new fleet of kayaks will give you and your group the option!

If you are vacationing on the Delmarva Peninsula this summer and want to explore Assateague Island, we are your best bet no matter where you are staying! Located in the Ocean City/Berlin MD area we can easily be reached from Delaware or Virginia! Don't get packed into a fourteen passenger van for an hour or more ride to Assateague. Instead, drive your family in your own vehicle to Assateague where we will meet you and start you tour in comfort and style. After the tour you and your family or group won't be hurried to get back in the van for the hour ride home. You can take your time and enjoy the park for as long as you would like. You could also plan an entire day around one of our tours and all the other awesome activities that are offered in the Ocean City area.

Lastly, this month we will be awarding one lucky contest winner with a half price adult Discovery Tour!! All you have to do is post an answer on our Facebook or Twitter page. If your correct answer is picked you win. This contest may not be that easy and will hopefully challenge all of your inquisitive minds. So put on your birding hats and GOOD LUCK.

An amazing season and an amazing future!!

Here at SuperFun Eco Tours it is the end of our summer kayaking season. We had a great year and owe all our success to every person who joined us for a trip, tour or rental. This year more people then ever came out to Assateague Island and experienced our brand of hands on eco tours. All of our participants were able to see and interact with the plethora of wildlife that call Assateague Island home. On average we led two full tours a day and every tour used a mixture of skill and luck to capture, interact with and release Blue Crabs, Mummichugs, Silversides, Grass Shrimp, Comb Jellies, Needle Fish, Moon Jellyfish, Sea Cucumbers and the elusive Horseshoe Crab. We also had a record number of large group trips come through the park with us this year and we would like to sincerely thank every participant who came out with us this summer!!

We would also like to thank all of our local partners! The Maryland Coastal Bays Program, Burley Oak Brewery, The Ocean City Chamber of Commerce, The Berlin Chamber of Commerce, The Harrison Hotel Group, Ayers Creek Adventures, The Paddle House Outfitters, Shockley's Market, Grow Berlin Green, The Globe Restaurant, Ocean City Recreation and Parks, Assateague Island State Park, and of coarse The Assateague Island National Seashore. All of these organizations strive to provide the local community with amazing opportunities to enjoy the local eco systems, cultures and communities. With out all of their help and support we would not be able to provide our customers with the high quality eco tours we offer throughout the summer months.

Even though we had a great year we will always strive to offer the best customer experience that we can. That means we are always looking for new trip and tour ideas. New for next year we will be offering our Burley Oak Beer tour which will highlight one of our newest partners, The Burley Oak Brewery. The tour will start with a kayak tour of Assateague Island and end at the brewery for a tasting and a tour. We are also working on an off season bus shuttle that will give the local community a chance to travel between Ocean City, Ocean Pines, and Berlin in style while cruising around in our superfun bus. Next year we will still be offering many of our most popular tours like our Sunset Tour, Fullmoon Tour, Sustainable Shellfishing Tour, and our most popular tour, the Discovery Tour.

Again, here at SuperFun we can not thank our friends, family, customers, partners and supporters enough for all the help and positive reinforcement. This has been an amazing experience so far and hope to have an amazing future filled with fun and success. Customer Appreciation Month and Our Ocean City Nature Clinic

Here at SuperFun September is CUSTOMER APPRECIATION MONTH! That means we will be offering half price tours for all children!! Also if you schedule your tour on a Monday every adult will receive ten dollars off their tour price. This season has been awesome so far and it is all because of you, our customers. We want to end this season strong and hope to have many customers taking advantage of our customer appreciation discounts.

We are happy to announce that we are doing a nature clinic with Ocean City Parks and Recreation. The nature clinic will give local children the opportunity to experience our type of hands on interpretation. We will be exploring Northside Park, Assateague Island and the beaches of Ocean City. David Moats and Hurricane Irene

This past week we had the pleasure of welcoming David Moats to the SuperFun Eco Tours crew. David is an Outdoor Recreation major at Ohio University and is apart of the ROTC program there. David came out to the eastern shore for 60 hours of field experience and he got it. He couldn't have came out at a better time because we had one of our best weeks ever!

David did everything from unloading/loading boats to sweeping trips and taking pictures. He was an awesome help when it came to multi-tour days and kept his cool when we were at our busiest. We can not thank David enough and we know that he will go on to be one of the many productive, successful, and responsible leaders in our army forces.

Now that David is gone and things are starting to slow down for the season we have to contend with hurricane Irene. She is currently making her way up the east coast and may hit the eastern shore. If that happens we will be prepared to finish our season out no matter what the outcome. Part of being an eco tourism company is having the ability to lead trips no matter what the current environmental situation.

If the National Seashore is closed due to any damage the hurricane causes we still have the ability to lead tours of the Sinepuxent Bay. So if after the storm the park is closed feel free to give us a call. We may be one of the only ways to get onto the island, by kayak!! Tons of Tours and a New Contest!!!

This July was our busiest month to date and we need to thank all of you who have explored the marshes at Assateague Island National Seashore with us!!! We had so many awesome families and groups who care about and want to experience Assateague's amazing ecosystems in unique and hands on ways. This past month our tours have been seeing and interacting with Wild Horses, Blue Crabs, Egrets, Herons, Ibis, King Birds, Royal and Foresters Terns, Comb Jellies, Silversides, Mummichogs, Needlefish, Brown Pelicans and even the elusive American Eel!!

Fourth of July and Free Trips for Kids

June has been an absolutely great month and we are excited to announce that this Fourth of July SuperFun will be offering children 12 and under FREE TOURS! This includes all of our trips and tours and has no group size limit!! During this June we have led a record number of tours that included our first Beach to Bay Tour. All of these tours have been seeing an amazing amount of wildlife. Participants have been catching, interacting, and releasing many creatures like, Needle Fish, Comb Jellies, Moon Jellyfish, Mummichogs, Killifish, Horseshoe Crabs, Blue Crabs, Clams, and Mussels. Our tours have also been seeing a plethora of Assateague Wild Horses, Oyster Catchers, Egrets, Herons, Sting Rays, Eagles and Ospreys.

We hope to have a great month starting this Fourth of July weekend. We will be doing several large group Beach to Bay tours and many more Discovery Tours and Sunset Tours. Free tours on Father's Day

June has been a great month so far and we would like to welcome our newest SuperFun member, Matt Westbrook. Matt will be our intern this year and he will bring a great vibe to all our trips and tours. We would also like to announce that SuperFun is offering FREE TOURS AND RENTALS to all fathers on Father's Day!! So bring your family out to Assateague Island for a great hands on experience.

We would also like to thank the Ocean City after school program for giving us the opportunity to hangout with them and the kids. Throughout the month of June SuperFun provided many outdoor activities that were fun and educational. The group even got the chance to kayak around the pier at Northside Park. We hope to have a long and SuperFun relationship with the Ocean City after school program and are always looking for new ways to give back to the local community.

Also, new this month is our Beach to Bay Bus Tour. This tour is designed for larger groups looking to see Assateague Island by bus, kayak and foot. Groups of 30 or more will be split into 2 smaller groups, then both will have the chance to hike and paddle through every eco tone on the island.
