One Great Season

Hi everyone!!! Here at SuperFun Eco Tours we are wrapping up our first season and it was a huge success due to you. Throughout our first season we had many visitors and participants that enjoyed our brand of hands on family programming. Our participants had the opportunity to explore and discover Assateague Island National Seashore in a unique and educational way. Our tours are one of the best ways to intimately interact with the amazing ecosystems and wildlife that make up the Sinepuxent Bay. We offer a Wildlife Discovery Tour, Sunset Tour, Fullmoon Tour, Sustainable Shellfishing Tour, And Spring/Fall Field Trips that highlight state and national parks throughout the DELMARVA region. We also offer our Delicious Delmarva and Brews on the Bay tours which pair our unique kayaking experience with locally produced wine and beer.
We offer discounts on most of our tours for children and groups of six or more; this past season we had several large families and scouting groups come out for tours with huge success. In the future we hope to do more educational tours with scouts and school groups. Our cutting edge educational, hands on, and SUPERFUN tours are perfect for larger groups and small groups alike. We invite you all to come out during 2011 and we look forward to sharing a wonderful and exciting experience with you, your families, and friends.
You can visit us at superfunecotours.com were you can find all our information and sign up for our newsletter. Beating the Heat

How do we beat the heat? When the temperature is in the nineties and the heat index is in the hundreds we hit the water. Kayaking and hanging at the beach are two of the best ways to beat the summer heat. At Assateague National Seashore you can do both. The cool ocean breeze and the refreshing water, along with a cold beverage are perfect ways to cool off. Here at SuperFun Eco Tours we help our customers beat the heat while having an enjoyable and educational family experience. Getting out on the Sinepuxent Bay with your family is full of adventure, exploration, and discovery. Over the past week we have brought many families out on the bay in order to beat the heat and have a great time. We've been seeing many horses including some newborns, green herons, great egrets, tri-colored herons, glossy ibis, blue crabs, comb jellies, mummichugs, striped killifish, atlantic silversides and many more awesome creatures. If you are interested in beating the heat with SuperFun Eco Tours you can find us online at superfunecotours.com or feel free to give us a call at 1-888-41-kayak. Remember to stay hydrated and have a great summer. Even if it does feel like 106 degrees.

Cloudy with a high UV index

June 5th, what a great day! We spent the day kayaking around Sinepuxent bay. We saw some Glossy Ibis, Great Blue Herons, Snowy Egrets, Osprey, jelly fish and monster Blue Crabs. The wonderful bay breeze helped with the humidity but the clouds did not help with the UV rays. Coming around the backside of Great Egging Island I realized the sun was winning the battle, but we soldiered on. By the time we got off the water I could feel the burn. As I expected I took on a little too much sun but it was worth it. Keep an eye out for us at Buck's Place on 611 and around the park in our bus.

Thanks for checking out the SuperFun Blog. We are really excited to be involved in the Ocean City Blog Network.

For this first Blog we wanted to introduce ourselves to the community and also figure out how this thing works. SuperFun Eco Tours is a full service tour operator on Assateague Island National Seashore. We have a permit from the Park Service which allows us to bring our guests onto the Island to explore the natural wonders of the barrier island ecosystem.

We use kayaks to allow guests to see some wonderful areas of the park that are not accessible by car or by foot. Kayaking is absolutely the best way to experience the beauty and diversity of Assateague Island.

Our tours do not require kayaking experience, in fact we love to take out first time paddlers and introduce them to a sport that seems like an extreme sport, but does not have to be. Many people associate kayaking with running crazy river rapids or surfing overhead waves. We are more into having fun when we paddle around the very protected Sinepuxent Bay and salt marshes of Assateague.

All of our guides are very passionate about what we do and love sharing it with other people. We catch all kinds of creatures with nets, then transfer them to clear containers so that everyone has a chance to view and learn about these normally concealed marine species.

The owners of SuperFun are friends from college who all received degrees in Adventure Recreation or Environmental Science. Tom, Neil and Dale all love nature and enjoy sharing their passion for the environment with other people who may not get out to natural areas as often as we do.

OK, enough about us. Now that the introductions are out of the way we will be coming up with some much more exciting and stimulating posts! If you have any ideas of what you would like us to talk about please, please let us know!
